During a recent appearance on Inside South Florida, Nadia Lewis, an Immigration Attorney and WSFL-TV Trusted Advisor, provided expert advice on US citizenship. Lewis explained that an individual seeking US citizenship must first hold a green card for a minimum of five years.
However, if they are married to a US citizen, this requirement is reduced to three years. As part of the process, they will need to complete and submit the USCIS N-400 form and pay applicable fees. USCIS will then evaluate the application to determine eligibility, including considerations such as physical and continuous residence, as well as the individual’s moral character.
